| Utah native Donald Allen, can and does paint any subject. Best known for strikingly classic still lifes, he principally paints household objects like glass and metal containers, juxtaposed with his signature depictions of water droplets, petals, and fruits and vegetables. The exquisitely handled traditional renderings, obscure his old-fashioned approach to the medium. A graduate of Brigham Young University, Mr. Allen furthered his artistic studies at the Porte Royale in Paris, and the Art Students’ League, National Academy and Salmagundi Club in New York City. His jewel-like paintings with their antiquated touch have won numerous awards. They reflect a man whose background gave him a sound base in the humanities. A critic notes that “… a desire to bring beauty and happiness into the world impels Mr. Allan to paint so beautifully… .” |
